I am truly lucky. I live in the most beautiful county in England. North Yorkshire. From vast rugged moors to small fishing villages, from timeless market towns to the ancient, awe-inspiring city of York, it has everything.

Believe me, this place is special. And that’s been at the forefront of my mind as I’ve built my Private Collection here. Our places are special too: a 700-year-old medieval tower; a beautiful, four-star boutique hotel; a dark, enticing inn where they say Guy Fawkes was born; an old fisherman’s cottage in a hauntingly striking bay.

Do you have an instinct that tells you, the moment you arrive, that an establishment is beautifully run? They’re always the privately-owned, one-off gems, aren’t they? Where polished floors and hand-made chocolates speak of attention to detail. Where the staff take a delight in helping. Where the food is made from the finest ingredients, farmed locally and served in season.
