Yorkshire's First Steak Club

Morag the Cow had reason to be concerned when she joined other pantomime characters to step off stage and into Yorkshire's first Beef Steak Club.

But she needn't have worried as panto cow was not on the menu when Sinbad, his brother Binbag and the beautiful Donna Kebab tucked into a feast of succulent sirloin, rump and porterhouse steaks.

The Beef Steak Club, in Harvilles Restaurant, Fossgate, York, was inspired by the 18th century London club of the same name, where the wits of the day ate, drank and caroused. It aims to serve the finest cuts of aged Aberdeen Angus washed down by red wine.

Cast and crew from panto Sinbad The Sailor, which is on at York Theatre Royal until February 2, were among the guests to get stuck into the menu.

"The food is absolutely out of this world. lt's wonderful," said Martin Barrass, who plays Binbag in his 22nd appearance in the legendary York production. "This is the perfect restaurant lor a cosy winter's night," he sald. "The design is a gorgeous blend of the old with the new."
