Guy Fawkes Inn

An intriguing history, an unrivalled location and an outstanding menu make the Guy Fawkes Inn a must-visit.

This splendid three-storey Queen Anne Town House sits in the shadow of York Minster on High Petergate, the Roman Via Principalis which led to the fortress of Eboracum. At the back is a cottage, which is the birthplace of the infamous plotter Guy Fawkes, who was baptised in St Michael-le-Belfy Church over the road on April 16, 1570.

As York’s finest traditional Inn, the Guy Fawkes features dark timber floors, gas lighting and York flagstones, Jacobean oak-panelled walls, antique furniture, a grandfather clock and a roaring log fire.

Each of the 13 rooms is individually and beautifully decorated. Some of the rooms feature opulent four-poster beds, and you can even stay in the Guy Fawkes Cottage itself! There is free wireless broadband throughout the Inn.

The Guy Fawkes Inn is found at the historic heart of York, with the Minster, the City Walls, shops and attractions on the doorstep. In fact the Inn is the City’s closest accommodation to the Minster.

Our team of chefs serve up delicious ‘gastro-pub’ food all day, every day. The Guy Fawkes Inn specialises in local, seasonal dishes such as Jugged Hare, baked Venison and even boiled Turbot. A superb selection of crafted real ales is always on offer as well as an extensive wine list.

As our guest at Guy Fawkes Inn you can enjoy the Relaxation Suite at our sister Hotel the AA four star Marmadukes with its Sauna, Hot Tub, Plunge Shower and Exercise Equipment.

The Guy Fawkes Inn is a filled with character – and characters.
